In Study U Abroad I define curiosity as “a desire to know more with a genuine interest in yours or someone else’s concern.” While on Study Abroad you have a perfect opportunity to learn how to be more curious in life. When you’re introduced to so many new people and customs the ideas you have about yourself and the world can be challenged.
Instead of constantly comparing things to back home or judging them as right or wrong, practice being curious. Try to just observe. Ask thoughtful questions. Then be willing to listen to the answers without judgment.
Curiosity is an important part of empathy, which can lead to creating more understanding and compassion. It doesn’t mean that you will agree with everyone and everything that you encounter, but it does help you to open your mind and develop a life-transformational skill. It’s an essential part of becoming a global mind!
How will you use curiosity on Study Abroad?
