In this talk Iyer explores how travel and movement impact your identity and the concept of home. He says, “Travel, for me, is a bit like being in love, because suddenly all your senses are at the setting marked “on.” Suddenly you’re alert to the secret patterns of the world.”
Study Abroad is also an opportunity to wake up to both your inner and outer worlds. Everything is new and your identity begins to shift the moment you make the decision to go. Looking at your life through a different lens can have profound impact. As Iyer says, “It’s only by stepping out of your life, and the world, that you can see what you most deeply care about and find a home.”
Iyer encourages us to become still because by doing so you can “find your way.” Remember my key to live in the present moment while on Study Abroad in order to soak up every ounce of fun and fulfillment. Pay attention to who you’re becoming in the process.
Where is your home?
